Author Website Design

An author’s website acts as a great hub to showcase all of their written work, new publications, and events.

We will work closely with you to make sure that your website reflects your style preferences and personal aesthetics. A standard author website includes five individual pages, along with an optional landing page. We typically build author websites in WordPress, using a range of free templates in order to keep your costs at a minimum. We allow up to three customizations/adjustments to the style of these templates, and anything beyond this incurs an additional fee. Website builds are typically completed within four weeks.

Cost Breakdown

  • $2000 for initial website build
  • $110/hr for add-ons, including additional pages/content outside of the scope of the initial build & post-build updates

Domain Name and Web Hosting: We will assist in setting up domain names and web hosting, or with any necessary transfers, however, the subscription costs and registration fees are the author’s responsibility – this means that the website domain belongs to the author.

Colors, Fonts, General Styling: Up to three adjustments to the standard templates are included. Beyond that, there will be an additional hourly charge of $110/hour for any adjustments.

Customized Icon/Logo included.

Pages: Up to five individual website pages are included, along with an optional landing page. Any additional pages will be charged at  $110/hour.

Common Add-ons at $110/hr:

  • Blog – Linking a pre-existing blog can be done within the initial-website-build fee.
  • Composition pages – Additional pages to show short stories, essays, excerpts, etc.
  • Shopping Cart – A page on your website where you can sell your book and any additional merchandise.

Content: Content is the responsibility of the author. We will offer advice and guidance, but the author is expected to supply all text, images, and links needed for the website.

Communication: Primary communication between the author and designer is via email. Two one-hour phone calls are included in the standard cost, typically one at the beginning of the build and one at the end. Additional phone calls are subject to hourly fees.
